Good Manners

I haz 'em!

Lovin' hoomans.

FoMa deserves some extra lubbins every now and then.  She does keep Phil and I fed, supply our treats, give us frozen peanut butter kongs, let us step on her feet when we stretch...  She's pretty great..  anyways.

Today, I gave her extra lubbins when she came home from work.  I missed her.

She promised I will receive even MORE love than she gives me when I get to my forever family!

I think FoMa was ready to change her clothes, but I wasn't done givin' loves yet.

Sharing is caring...

So, FoMa only has one dog bed downstairs since she has the crate set up for me and there's lots of cushy blankets in there.  But, Phil doesn't like it when I sleep on the dog bed, and I don't like it when Phil sleeps on the dog bed.

So.. I wanted to see if he'd compromise.

FoMa, Phil is hogging the bed!
FoMa says, "Donner, go lay in the crate."

Is it ok if I only take up a little space, FoMa?

Phil, is it ok with you if I lay here?
"NO." -Phil

I'm just gonna do it anyways, ok?

FoMa, Phil grumbled at me!
"Phil, stop." -FoMa

See, looks Phil!  I'm barely even touching you and we're both on the dog bed!
We're snugglin' like brothers!

"Ughhhh, fine, Donner." -Phil

This lasted for about 20 minutes until Phil woke up and was surprised to see how close I was.  He quickly got up and went to the crate, which left me with the whole bed.  I WIN!

LET US IN!!!

FoMa makes us go outside for business, which I guess is good since there's some pretty sweet bushes in the back yard for me to poop in.  But when Phil and I are done, we let FoMa know quick!

We tap on the door with our muzzle and Phil even surprised us all and barked (he's a man-dog of few words)!

Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom...
let us in!

Right there's the handle, I CAN SEE IT!

Phil has learned that I don't always completely finish my peanut butter kongs, so he likes to rush in and finish it up for me..  I don't mind.

But this time, he was sooooo excited, he forgot to let FoMa take off his muzzle!

I'm gonna get it!  I'm gonna get it!

Donner, this was a mean trick, dude.

And I didn't even care cause I got the big bed!!!!
Woooo hooo!!!!

Also, I just wanna tell you that our muzzles aren't a bad thing!  I know they make us look kinda scary, but they are far, far from it!  Muzzles keep us safe.  Actually, muzzles keep ALL DOGS safe.  Sometimes, when we're playin' in the yard, we might get a little excited and play nip at each other.  Well, Greyhounds have very thin skin that tears easy, so if we're too excited and nip a little too hard, that could be one expensive vet bill for stitches for FoMa!  We love her enough to wear our muzzles without issue because she gets sad when our treats money has to go towards vet bills!

PS.  In a funny turn of events, a few days after this, FoMa let us in for breakfast after going business and I forgot to let her take off my muzzle and was trying to eat my breakfast with it on!  I looked soooo silly, but FoMa wasn't awake enough to get a picture.....

I mustache you a question!

But... I will shave it for later!

Somewhere, somehow, FoMa and FoDad got the idea that fake mustaches as eyebrows would be an EXCELLENT idea.

We aren't sure why, but after we endured the humiliation of being "browed" we got treats!!!!

I don't usually surf the internet...
but when I do.. eyebrows.

FoMa tried to even give me a mustache.  You see how unimpressed I was?  I licked that sucker off quick.
I would have eaten it too if she wouldn't have gotten it first!

FoMa was fair about it.
She put on her fake 'stache too!

Both Phil and I with our fake mustache eyebrows.
FoMa thinks it was MUCH funnier than it actually was.

Phil is definitely UNimpressed.

To make up for the torture...  both Phil and I got.....
BONES!!!!
NOMNOMNOM!!!!!

I felt like this was a pretty fair trade-off.

Doin' the Funky Chicken..

FoMa got us some more new toys... but she only let us have one this time.  She says she's stockpiling toys with good, not-as-annoying squeakers.  She's pretty great for getting us new toys.  I loveeeeee them (when FoBro shares that is).

FoMa is also trying to get better about taking video for my fans.

What Greyhounds do best...

There is a misconception in the world.  I'm not sure who started it, or why... but it's a LIE!!!

Oh, I guess I should tell you what it is.  Yeah.

It's that Greyhounds are "high energy" dogs....
Well, this is what I've got to say to that:
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

I don't even know who made that up but they are sooooooo wrong!

Greyhounds sleep 20ish hours a day (give or take some depending on the dog)!  That leaves 4(ish) hours for lovin' hoomans, eatin, gettin' trained, goin' business, smellin' smells, gettin' pettins', and waking up to re-situate when I'm sleepin.

Let me show you proof:

I don't even have to be all the way on the bed to be sleepin'.
That's serious business, yall.

I was sleepin' so hard when FoDad was takin' these pictures that I didn't even wake up.

Look how cute I am.

I could be your floor decoration!

Presents!

FoMa went shopping yesterday and she came home with presents for me and FoBro!!!

Sadly, Phil found them in the shopping bags (he could be a detective!) before she could get pics, but she got some video of me playin!

FoMa has been saying we needed some new squeaky toys around here lately, so she finally pulled through for us.  This is almost as good as Crunchy Bottle Raccoon!

Have you put in your application yet?  FoMa says she loves me, but I need to find my forever home so she can help one of my cousins find their foster home after me!

Exercise!

Does everyone have their sweat bands?  What about your reflective belts?  Did you get your ear-do-daddys for your musics, FoMa says hoomans like musics?  We won't even need weights for this!  I promise it's easy!  We're gonna exercise!

I'm used to training and running really fast, and apparently, just because I'm retired doesn't mean I'm allowed to get out of shape... or that's what FoMa says.  When it's not been too cold/rainy, FoMa has been taking me on walk/jogs.  She calls it jogging, I call it trotting.  She's really slow compared to me.  Seriously.

FoMa says that with a little work, I'll be a pro on a leash.  I get a little distracted when we're walking slow, but when we she was running jogging, I was a bit more focused.  I'm not a 'fraidy cat dog like some other pups can be.  A big yellow school bus passed us and lots of other cars and trucks and I didn't even flinch.  We just kept right on going.  FoMa gave me so much praises for being so good!

FoMa doesn't always jog with me.  Mostly she walks, but that day, she needed to get her workout in too!  FoMa says I would be great with just one longer walk (1/2 mile - 1 mile) or several short walks per day.  Please remember, you'll have to wake me up for these walks as I'll be napping 88% of the time once I get to my forever home.

FoMa didn't get pictures/video of our exercising because she says its hard to do too many things at once, but just imagine a smelly human joggin with a super, suave, sexy Greyhound beside her.  That's what it looked like.  Except more awesome, because I am more awesome in person.  Seriously.  I am.

I can prove it!

You can come meet me!

I'll be at PetValu in Leonardtown, MD on Sat. Feb. 23th.  I'll be the most super cute bridle puppy with grey face there.  Seriously.  I have the softest fur ever, you need to pet it.  I promise you'll love it... and I'll love you.  Errrr, I mean, I'm excited to see you on Saturday!!! :D

Have you put in your application yet?  FoMa says she loves me, but I need to find my forever home so she can help one of my cousins find their foster home after me!

EWWWWW BUGS!

The other day, FoDad was in the floor with me and I kinda rolled over.  It looked like I was gonna "roach" which is Greyhound terminology for when Greyhounds lay on their back with their legs in the air.  It does kinda look like a dead roach, so I get the name, but EWWW!

FoMa was pretty excited and grabbed the camera and caught me mid-turn.  She wasn't sure though.  She couldn't be positive I was a roacher.

Then today, after circling Phil over and over cause he wouldn't give up the dog bed, I just decided to do some tanning of my cheeks.

Don't mind the ridiculous sweater that FoMa loves and decided to put on me since it's chilly out.

When FoMa looked over a little later... THIS WAS HAPPENING!!!!

There's a dead bug in FoMa's floor!
Someone should pet it's belly!

I'm a ROACHER!!!!  Phil isn't, so FoMa really loves this about me.  But she says that my forever family will love me even more than she does.

She keeps promising me about my forever family, but I'm still looking for them.  Do you wanna be it?  I'll let you!

Go to Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue page to get more information and fill out your application! I want you to be my forever family!!

Are you ready for me?

I'm ready for you!!!  FoMa says I'm ready for a forever family!  She says I've settled down and picked up some really good habits from Phil..  mostly the one where I will let you sleep in till almost 9am, if that's you're thing.

You see, most newly retired racers are still on "track time" which means that we wake up early for business/number 1 or 2/potty/whatever you call it and breakfast.  Well, not me.  I'm retired, duh.  I got that memo quick!

Let me show you what my days look like (for the most part):

Dis is Phil, when he's on the doggy bed...

...I suffer with laying in the crate after I pace around him hoping he'll get tired and let me have the bed.

oorrrrr..

I gets da bed...

...and den Phil has to gets the crate.

Sometimes, I wake up for some of this though:

Awwww, FoDad, you need some lubs.  I'll helps.
Mmm, those scritches feels gud!
No, don't stops!

I learned how to do the stairs in just ONE TRY!  Hoomans, that is a really, big deal.  You take it for granted that you were raised just knowing how to do everything.  Track life is totally different than retired life so I'm learning a lot of new things halfway through the game!

So far I've learned about:
-stairs, which I've done carpeted stairs and wooden stairs that you can see through.  The wooden ones were trickier than the carpet ones, but I made it!
-mirrors, that is one handsome doggy dude lookin' back at me.
-glass doors, ouch, only did that once.. Now I just rub my muzzle against the door waiting on FoMa to open the door!
-floors... My foster brother, Phil, is deathly afraid of slippery floors. I could care less. I transition from tile to carpet like its nobody's business.
-car rides, these are usually the gateway to fun activities. So much fun things happen not at home. Anytime FoMa opens the door to go somewhere, I want to be right behind beside her so I can go with her!

Did you fill out your application yet?????    I'm ready to show you just how soft I am!

You can come test my love at PetValu in Leonardtown, MD on Sat. Feb 23rd.  We'll be there from 11-3!!! I'm waiting on you!

Socializin'

The other day we got to go to visit FoMa's friends!  They are used to FoMa bringing over Phil, but they were excited to meet me!

We pups get the royal treatment over there!  I love meeting new people that will give me pettins.  It didn't hurt that we got treats!

We have our own bear skin rug!

Rawhide bones to keep us entertained!

And a basket of toys under the tv!

Phil got distracted........ hehehee

..so....

... I helped him finish his rawhide!
You snooze, you lose, Old Man!!!!!

Obviously, I have some good manners because I waited until he walked away before I took his bone.  I'm a great fit with my forever family...  I just know it!  I wish you did!

Go fill out your application!!!

A whole new wooooooorrrrrlllllddddd!!!

Hi, yall, I'm Donner!  I used to be called Bokeem when I was a speedy runner, but those days are FAR, FAR behind me!  Now I'm gettin' comfy on these huge doggie beds my Foster Mom (FoMa) has for my Foster Brother, Phil.

I got the name Donner because I left the race track around Christmas time with 11 other racers that were retiring and we all got reindeer names!  How cool is that?!?!  I think my forever family should definitely hook me up with some reindeer antlers (if they celebrate Christmas, that is).  I'm down for any kinds of celebrations where I get extra treats....  (hint, hint!)

I arrived in MD and got to come home with FoMa.  I already showed the picture of me riding home.  Phil's got a pretty sweet setup for me, but FoMa says that my forever family will spoil me even more than Phil gets spoiled.  Actually, she promised.

My first day in a home I learned so much!  There are so many new smells!  So much to investigate!

FoMa says I'm doing really good.  She says I'm fully housebroken, crate trained (of course!), I get along well with other Greyhounds, I get along well with new people, I looooove pettin's, treats, dinner time, breakfast time, any time with food, naps, stealing Phil's beds, givin' FoMa (and FoDad) all my loves as often as possible....

FoDad supervising food times.

I'm a talker, so if you pretend to be one of my kind, I'll sing right along with you.
I'm a quick learner, FoMa doesn't like it when I'm in the kitchen with her, and I've grasped the concept of "OUT!" but sometimes, I like to be a show-off and instead of backing out, I just walk through the kitchen to listen to her grumble.  FoMa's pretty easy to rile up because she's very stringent on the rules.
I'd snuggle with you on the couch if you let me!  FoMa doesn't allow that, but I've definitely tried to get up and snuggle her on the couch.  I snuggled with FoDad on the floor, it's cool.

Most of all, I'm officially a retired racing Greyhound.  I'm best at napping.  All.day.long.  In all the ways.

Will you give me my forever home?!?!  Please, please?  I have soooo much love to give you.  I could melt butter with my big, beautiful, brown eyes and my grey face makes me look sooooo much smarter than that other pups that are my age!  Pretttttyyy please?  With a cherry on top?!?!?

Go to Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue page to get more information and fill out your application!  I need to be on your couch!!
